Winter Lanterns: Freeway Park, 2017-2022

In 2017 LTDC worked with the Freeway Park Association (funded by a grant from the Office of Arts & Culture) to reimagine the annual community kites program in Freeway Park for a winter installation that met the community's goals for public safety, community engagement and activation of the Park after dark and throughout the winter months. The lantern canvases are painted in the park during the summer with park users and a variety of special groups, including students, daycare children, residents of retirement communities and residents of neighboring shelters. LTDC continued as the lantern project coordinator from 2020, 2021 and 2022.
